Nadine Salas was born in Oranjestad, Aruba. In 1993 she
graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy of Art in Rotterdam, majoring in
photography and interaction design. She currently works freelance as a photographer
and webdesigner in the Netherlands as well in Aruba.

Obra Maestra 2003
Nadine Salas participated with tho photographs, "Fireworks Cunucu-house"
and "X-Mas DiviDivi" in the opening exhibit of Art Gallery Access
Art Aruba in Oranjestad.

Endless Capacity 2003
Group exhibit of Aruban artists in RBTT Bank in Oranjestad, Aruba. Nadine Salas's
contribution was the photograph "Beauty Peagant".

A separate Aruba (Aruba Apart) 2002
The National Museum of Ethnology Leiden commissioned Nadine Salas to create
images with the theme of Aruban Identity for the the exhibition "Anceaux's
glasses, ethographic pictures 1860-today". Although the former Dutch colonies
are reasonably documented in the museum's collection, Aruban photographs were
completely absent in the collection.
Her colorful and exuberant images of houses, Christmas decorations, carnival,
political campaigns and parties sketch an image of an island trying to manifest
itself as unique and different. But the strong longing for uniqueness seems
to manifest itself more in the exuberance itself than strong cultural or historical
traditions.

Simiya di Paz 2001
Group exhibit on loaction in the John F. Kennedy School. Installation: "Aruba
10 minute meditation video". A big white classroom, two long white pieces
of cloth forming two tents with pillows and headphones to sit and watch two
videomonitors with two different video-pieces. The videos were 10 minute static
shots of beautiful landscapes along the seaside of Aruba, including sound. One
of a quiet place along Baby Beach with the sea and wind and birds singing, the
other of waves pounding the rocks at the northern shore near Seroe Colorado.
The concept was to sit down and experience the tranquility, the force of Aruban
nature and it's soothing, healing effects on the mind.

Invasion 2000
Artists were invited to make art in, around and behind the theater Cas di Cultura
for one evening. The installation piece consisted of a photo-presentation shot
with a digital camera. Presented on a computermonitor, in a small dark room
which used to be a ticket booth. Peple had to walk through dark corridors to
get to the loaction, stand outside and watch through the window of the door
to the slideshow which presented close-up voyeuristic images such as a child's
footsole on the grass, beardstubble from a man, etc.

In february of this year Nadine Salas designed and launched the website http://www.aruba-ecards.com,
presenting her work as a professional photographer and internetdesigner.

A New Landscape 1999
Group exhibit in Biblioteca National Aruba. Nadine Salas participated with the
photograph "Requiem”, a portrait of a hauntingly beautiful place in
Aruba nature, threatend by the construction of a big highway.

The Millennium Photoproject 1999
In december 1999 she participated in The Millennium Photoproject. Photographers
from all over the world took pictures in the timespan between 12.00 AM on december
31,1999 and 12.00 AM january 1, 2000. The best images were published in a coffeetablebook
"Dawn of the 21st century" and her picture of a man laying down 2
km worth of firecrackers in Oranjestad was picked for publication.

Art Unlimited 1999
Publisher Art Unlimited comissioned two of her photographs to be published into
the collection as postcards: "Maritza's kitchen table" and "Tulpen
from Rotterdam".

Discovery Channel Online 1998
In february this year Nadine Salas was assigned to photograph a daily dispatch
on the website of Discovery Channel, covering the preparations for the total
eclipse of the sun on february 26 of the articles written by freelance reporter
Hannah Holmes.

Water/Wind/Sun (Awa/Biento/Solo) 1996
In the summer of this year Nadine Salas was comissioned by Setar telecommunications
Aruba to photograph and design a series of prepaid telephone cards. She photographed
dancers who symbolically express the three elements shaping Aruba's landscapes.
The phonecards were exhibited along with other photographs made for this series
in Setar's headoffice in Oranjestad.

Aruba Carnival Book 1996
Writer Vanja Oduber selected some images for publiaction in her book on Aruba
carnival, published in november.

Simya '96
Nadine Salas initiated the exibit Simya '96 together with Renwick Heronimo in
Studio Galeria Eterno. Goal was to provide Aruban art students with exhibit
experience during their studies and to make acquintance with the Aruban public.

Akademia di Arte 1995
In august of this year Nadine Salas had a solo exposition of her work including
"The Macho & The Virgin" in Akademia di Arte Korsou in Otrabanda,
Curaçao.

Aruba Cultural Paradise 1995
The Centre for Dutch Library and Reading-matters purchased a series of pictures
to compose a travelling exhibit of Aruba which visited at least nine libraries
throughout The Netherlands in the years 1995-1997.

Inside Out 1994
Nadine Salas was one of 10 photographers selected to participate in the photography
project organised by the Netherlands Photomuseum in Rotterdam.

Museum Hillesluis 1994
In april was invited to exhibit a selection of the "The Macho & The
Virgin"-series in Museum Hillesuis in Rotterdam together with two other
artists.
The Macho & The Virgin 1993
Nadine Salas received a grant from UNOCA to work on her graduation project "The
Macho & The Virgin" on man-woman interactions and relations in Aruba.
The exposition took place in Instituto di Cultura in Oranjestad, Aruba.

Sun and Shadows 1992
In August of 1991 she had an exhibition called "Sun & Shadows"
in the National library of Aruba, which was made possible by a grant of the
UNOCA. The work was about the flip-side of the Aruban culture.

The dawning of age 1990
In August 1990 she diplayed her work in Art Gallery and restaurant Gasparito
on Aruba. The project was called "The dawning of age" and consisted
of photographs of the desolate northcoast landscapes of Aruba and was made possible
by a grant of the UNOCA.

In february 1990 her work was on display at Art Gallery Artishock in Oranjestad,
